DTF or DTG? Apparel Printing Selection Guide

Direct-to-garment and film transfer: two process routes with different application characteristics.

Process and application selection

One prints directly on garments; the other prints on film before transfer. Understand the process routes first, then their application characteristics.

DTG: system-specific pretreatment, direct garment printing and heat fixation; DTF: dedicated film printing, powder application and curing, then heat transfer to garments

DTG / DTF · Printed surfaces and selection

One design, two printed surfaces

DTG emphasizes fabric texture and soft touch, while DTF emphasizes a continuous surface print layer and transfer suitability. Choose the process according to artwork, fabric and production method.
